Who We Are
Take Stock in Children Miami provides low-income children with mentors from their entrance to middle school to their transition to high school, as well as college scholarships and transition services to attend college. Parents, teachers, mentors and the Miami Dade community are engaged to provide our students with a strong foundation.
Take Stock in Children Miami was established in 1998 in partnership with the Miami Dade County Public School Board and is now housed on the Wolfson Campus of Miami Dade College; this was a natural fit for our program. Miami Dade’s Wolfson Campus is located in Miami’s cultural hub. Miami Dade is the only comprehensive urban campus in the city and is located within the city’s financial, governmental, technological and cultural center. TSIC Scholars are therefore exposed to different academic and career opportunities. These surroundings and culture also have been woven into the fabric of our program and serve as a compass that enables our students to find their way to reaching their dreams and admirations.
Take Stock in Children Miami serves children from varied backgrounds .Our students are selected based upon economic need shown through their enrollment in the Free or Reduce Lunch program (FRL). Currently 494 students are being served by Take Stock in Children Miami, consisting of 43% Black, 6% Hispanic, and 1% Asian.
